A Letter to Time: a writing invitation

في آخر ورشتين عن فن كتابة الجوابات ناقشنا فكرة مهمة جداً وهي إحساسنا بالوقت، وسط عالم سريع مليان صراعات وتنافس ومشبع بالمعلومات، إحنا فين؟ وفين صوتنا الحقيقي أو إيقاعنا الأصلي؟ إتكلمنا عن "حركة البطء" اللي بدأت في الثمانينات وعن الحياة اليومية والتفاصيل وإن ممكن الواحد يخلق مساحة لنفسه يقرر ويحدد فيها إيقاع الزمن. إتناقشنا عن الزمن كعنصر أو مخلوق في الحياة حاسين بيه ومش فاهمين أبعاده. الورشة في حد ذاتها كانت مساحة خاصة حصل فيها إن الوقت كان بيجري أو بيهدى أو حتى ساعات يقف - وبشكل تلقائي. من هنا جتلنا فكرة تعتبر تطور وامتداد للورشة، وهي إننا نفتح الباب لتلقى رسائل مكتوبة للزمن . . .
هنكتب من غير قيود . . . الرسالة ممكن تكون بالعربية الفصحى أو العامية أو باللغة الإنجليزية، وممكن تكون رسالة طويلة أو "تلغراف" قصير من جملة واحدة، الرسالة ممكن تكون معاها رسم حر، أو تكون هي أصلا رسمة، ممكن كمان تكون في ضهر بوست-كارد من صورة بتعني لينا شيء أو عليها طابع بريد بتصميم بيعكس فكرة معينة، أو حتى حوار خيالي على الواتسآب.، والرسالة طبعاً ممكن تكون من أي حد عايش في أي مكان في العالم

هنختار من الأعمال والرسائل اللي هنتلقاها مجموعة للنشر والطباعة بالتعاون مع وابي سابي. الموعد النهائي لتسلم الرسائل هو ٢٥ مايو ٢٠٢٣...وشكراً
 

In our last two workshops on the art of letter writing, we discussed an important concept ; our perception of Time, and our existence within this hasty world, amid all the conflicts and the data saturation. We questioned the idea of genuine inner voices and our original rhythms. We talked about "The Slow Movement" that started in the 1980s, about the details of daily life and how one can create their own space with their own time rhythm. We discussed Time as a notion or a creature that we can sense without completely understanding it. The workshop in itself was a special space where time –sometimes– ran, or slowed down, or even stopped, and it always happened spontaneously.

From here came the idea of writing letter to time; your options are not limited to letters, you can send letters, handmade postcards, one sentence telegrams, or maybe even an imaginary whatsapp conversation with time. It could be an illustration, or attached to a piece of art. You can write in Arabic, colloquial Arabic, or English. The message could be from anyone living anywhere around the world. From your messages we will choose a collection to be printed and published in co-operation with Wabi Sabi Creative Space. Your deadline is May 25, 2023. Thank you.
