Swimming with the Whales invites writers, artists, and performers to take the risk of miscommunication and to share their processes out loud. Art in itself is the consolation of the misunderstandings and the disappointments, so we ask you to trust this process, to be as playful as possible, and to embrace questioning; to rather sense, listen, and walk away with ripples in your mind or heart.
This project encourages experimentation, grounded research, and interaction as methods of ‘doing things’. An artwork could be the final production, but the artwork could also be the process itself: the connections made, the conclusions formed, as well as the epiphanies and the failures.
Our process starts by creating themed experiements, they could be in the form of workshops, labs, reading circles, or a public interaction activity. These experiements organically grow into a triggering context. These contexts are facilitated through introducing certain tools of expression –writing, or any form of visual or performing arts– to illustrate and navigate through this process of creation. The intention is to finally exhibit the results of this process; mainly through art-books, but also through intimate events, exhibitions, and performances.
